Skyping with Mrs. Kaput's Class

Ms. Lirenman isn't really sure how it happened, but some how our Skype call with Mrs. Kaput's class in Joilet, Illinois from our Flat Classroom Project never made it to this blog.  It happened during their last week of school when things were pretty crazy in our classroom too.  Anyhow she has finally taken the time to edit the conversation and created this little video to show the rest of the world how it went.  Remember this was the first time that we have ever Skyped as a class and hopefully there will be a lot more opportunity to do it some more in the future. Enjoy.

Have you ever Skyped with another class before? Do you have some tricks for us to make it even more successful next time? We'd love to hear them.

  1. Wow, that looks and sounds like fun! I think my grade 1 class would like to do this too. What is the best part of Skype ?

  2. Thank you for showing me what it's like to Skype with another class. I have never done it before. You asked some interesting questions about what it was like at school for kids that go to school in Illinois.

  3. We were lucky enough to Skype with Building Bridges classes in Singapore, Shanghai, and Camrose in Canada. We had to sleep over at school to do this. We called it a Skype-over. We got up really early to Skype with a BB class in Oman. It was great fun. What has worked best for us is to have a lot of questions to ask. Did you know it was against the law to chew gum in Singapore? Or that kids in Australia have to wear wide-brimmed hats to go out to recess? Without Skype, we never would have known this.
Maybe we can Skype with you next year. We love your blog.
